SORRY I ALWAYS DO THAT WHEN I FOLLOW SOMEONE HEHEHEHE
Just came back from my trip to France. I am so tired but that just shows I had an amazing time. Right? Sorry I haven’t been posting much, this is the reason why. I had no proper wi-fi for 10 days! It wasn’t that hard but I did spend 10 euros of credit on internet lol
So the first 7 days were spent in Taize. First day was tiring, definitely but it was worth it. The weather wasn’t that great but that didn’t stop us from having fun! It didn’t take that long for me to settle because everyone was so friendly and I was in a dorm with 9 other girls. (Jane, Sarah O, Sarah M, Yvonne, Eimear B, Eimear D, Mary, Una and Niamh). I walked in on this trip not knowing anyone but my best friend Yvonne but I came out with over 40 new friends. Taize had the atmosphere that I have always searched for. It’s a place where you can talk about your religion or your beliefs with anyone without getting judged. It’s a place where you can be friends with everyone. I’m a shy person but I was able to express myself in Taize and I’m so glad I went.
So the Monday was a bit hard because I was still trying to settle. We woke up at around 7 and went to morning prayer at 8:15am followed by breakfast. We then had bible study at around 10am and we were separated into groups after. My bible study group had around 15 people. After that, there was midday prayer at 12:20pm followed by lunch and from then on we had free time because dinner wasn’t till 7pm and followed by evening prayer. Also we had assigned jobs but the job I got was at an awkward time so we changed it to food distribution for breakfast.
Tuesday to Saturday is just a big blur now because that’s when I was already settled into the routine. I settled quicker than I thought to be honest. Tuesday was the day we played a card game called bullshit and whoever were the last three had to be called a certain name.
Third loser - Ned
Second loser - Cement
First loser - Tits McGee
and I got Ned…. lol
on the Wednesday we had our own little mass and we did a little kind of “Secret Santa” thing but this was called Taize buddy. Thursday was the day I tasted the crepes for the first time in Taize and I almost cried cause it was so good lol (what is life? crepes).
So I had my diary the whole week but I stopped writing after Thursday cause the days just kept getting busier. I should have kept writing because I barely remember what happened for the rest of the trip.
Saturday night was sad. Everyone in our dorm (room 147) had a bit of a crying session because that was our last night in Taize. It was really shocking how close I got to the girls. The next morning was the day we left Taize.
And off to Paris we went. We arrived in Paris around 5pm and we went to the city to get something to eat. WE HAD WI-FI FOR THE FIRST TIME LOL anyway, then we had a bit of tour and took more photos etc.
The next day was the day we went to Disneyland. It was tiring but definitely fun. We got stuck in the middle of one ride for 20 mins and it was terrifying lol
The next day was the shopping! sorry the description for each day is getting shorter because I literally can’t remember anything. I’m still tired lol The morning before shopping, we went to a beautiful church (Montnartre), too bad we couldn’t take pictures inside the church but it’s in my head somewhere lol We took photos outside the church though. The steps up to the church was exhausting but it was worth it in the end because you get a beautiful view of Paris.
So then we went shopping and then to the airport and back to Ireland. I really wish we could turn back time and relive that week again. It was the highlight of my 2014 and you guys know I’ve had a shitty start of this year.
Also there is one person I need to thank. Our priest, father Jerry. Without him, none of this would have been possible. Thanks for giving me the opportunity of experiencing such a trip! Can’t wait for next year <3
Everyone wiggle your bohhoms!!
